SECAC Award for Artistic Excellence

Nomination period opens on April 1, 2025.

Awarded to recognize an artist or group whose sustained creative activity (within the last two years) is considered exemplary.

Note: SECAC members may also apply for the SECAC Artist’s Fellowship, which carries a monetary prize. See the SECAC Awards page for information on the SECAC Artist’s Fellowship application process and deadline.

To nominate yourself or a colleague for the SECAC Award for Artistic Excellence, send a letter of nomination (written by yourself of a colleague) and the nominee's CV to Al Denyer at a.denyer@utah.edu by August 1, 2025; all supporting materials are due by August 1, 2025 (see details below). The nominee's SECAC membership status should be current at the time of nomination.

To nominate a group of collaborators, an organization, or an institution, the nominator should send a letter of nomination specifying the intended award nominee(s) and the intended award to Al Denyer at a.denyer@utah.edu by August 1, 2025; all supporting materials are due by August 1, 2025 (see details below). In the case of a collaborating group or organization, at least one person must be a current SECAC member; a CV for this individual should accompany the nomination letter. In the case of an institution, the institution must be a current SECAC institutional member at the time of nomination.

Supporting materials should document sustained creative activity within the last two years, including the nomination letter; nominee’s CV; artist’s statement; and web-based or digital portfolio of up to 10 images (jpeg, 300 dpi) that includes an image list with title, medium, dimensions, date, and links to sound- and video-based work. Additional supporting material, such as reviews or interviews, may also be included. These materials may be provided by either the nominator or the nominee, however, all materials are to be submitted together.

Nomination letters and supporting materials may be submitted via email attachment, Google Drive, or Dropbox to Al Denyer at a.denyer@utah.edu.
